Family Law Task Force Meeting

Description

Megan Reynolds, from Michigan Poverty Law Program, will present and lead a discussion on drafting judgments and final orders with the aim of preventing post-judgment enforcement and modification headaches.  Please bring your suggestions and experiences with provisions that look ahead to potential post-judgment issues and how to avoid clients boomeranging back with post-judgment problems.

In addition to some general updates, Megan will present on the upcoming amendments of MCR 3.207 and 3.210 that go into effect on  9/1/25. The rules "clarify" procedure for ex parte custody orders but in some ways it does more than "clarify" and may show up as changes in some counties, to the extent that judges take note of the amended MCRs.

Information about how to work with your program directors to claim one of the scholarships funded by the SBM Family Law Council to attend the Family Law Institute in Novi on November 20-21st will also be provided.
