About Us

The Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) is a program of Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS). The Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) works to advance the health, safety, and economic security of low-income Michiganders and advance racial justice. It does so by working in partnership with individuals, community organizations, legal aid organizations, and policymakers to make lasting, impactful systems change.

MPLP was launched in 1997 as a joint project with the University of Michigan Law School and our partnership with UMLS continues today.

MPLP is funded in part by the Michigan State Bar Foundation (MSBF).
