Lakeshore Legal Aid - IT Department Supervisor – Southfield, MI

Organization Overview:

Lakeshore Legal Aid serves low-income people, seniors, and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in a holistic manner to address clients’ legal issues and improve our communities. Lakeshore provides free direct legal representation in southeast Michigan and the thumb and client intake, advice, and brief legal services throughout Michigan via our attorney-staffed hotline. Our practice areas include housing, family, consumer, elder, education, and public benefits law.

Position Overview:

The IT Department Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the IT Department which supports employees in multiple geographical locations on a wide variety of technical issues. This work includes providing support for client services, developing and maintaining IT policies, ensuring system security, and working with the Innovation Committee to understand the evolving needs of our staff and client services. The IT Department provides quality customer service to Lakeshore’s staff and treats all clients, co-workers, and all others who interact with Lakeshore with dignity and respect.

General Task Areas:

  • Identify and implement innovative technology to further access to justice, meet client needs, and facilitate efficient service delivery.
  • Supervise the work of IT Technicians to ensure they are meeting responsibilities.
  • Actively work to mitigate technology-related security risk ensuring that Lakeshore’s technology, infrastructure, data and networks are safe and secure.
  • Participate in and coordinate staff involvement in state and national groups, taskforces, training and conferences.
  • Lead efforts to ensure that Lakeshore is proactive regarding technology.
  • Create a shared strategy for addressing Lakeshore’s IT needs through collaboration, development of a Tech Plan, and project management.
  • Manage IT-related projects to ensure that they are completed efficiently, timely, and within budget.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the COO, CEO, or a CEO designee.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or related Technology field or equivalent experience in the Technology field.
  • Experience managing others in a technical setting required.
  • Certifications, experience with administration of Microsoft 365 and Digium phones are preferred. Demonstrated experience working in Microsoft and phone systems required.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting equipment (up to 50 pounds).
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in addition to contributing to the team environment.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience in project management and technology implementation.
  • Experience in IT security, continuity and governance.
  • Experience with non-profits or in a legal setting preferred.

Salary

Starting salary for IT supervisor ranges from $70,000 and is commensurate with qualifications and includes excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD&D, short-term and long-term disability, retirement plan, and paid time off.
