The MI PLP, LLC through its Michigan Legal Help Program and Michigan Poverty Law Program, is hiring an A2J Author/HotDocs Developer and Web Content/Tech Support Specialist in its Ann Arbor, MI office.

Michigan Legal Help Program (MLHP) helps people who have to handle simple civil legal problems without a lawyer. One primary product of the MLHP is MichiganLegalHelp.org, an interactive, statewide website that provides legal information and referrals to self-represented litigants. Legal information includes Articles, Common Questions and Do-It-Yourself tools, utilizing A2J Author and HotDocs, which enable litigants to complete their own legal forms. Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) provides state support services to legal services attorneys and other poverty law advocates throughout Michigan. se services include case support; planning and managing trainings and task forces; and technology consultation and support including managing Drupal websites for statewide advocacy programs.

Job Description: This position will be assigned 50% to MLHP and 50% to MPLP. Within MLHP, the primary duties will be as an A2J Author and HotDocs developer. The MLHP has a library of approximately 50 document assembly interviews which require maintenance and updates, and MLH strives to develop 10-15 new interviews per year. The developer will need to master both the A2J Author and HotDocs platforms, learn how to update and modify our existing library of interviews, and work with MLH attorneys to create new interviews and make modifications as part of an extensive testing process. Within MPLP, the primary duties will be managing content on the 12 Drupal websites MPLP maintains and assisting MPLP’s Systems Administrator with routine desktop maintenance, providing MPLP and other staff with general technology assistance, and web statistics compilation (including use of Google Analytics). There will be other related technology duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates must be familiar with the principles of document assembly development, and priority will be given to those experienced with the A2J Author and/or HotDocs platforms. Qualified candidates will also have experience developing and managing content in Drupal and providing general IT support; experience customizing GA is a bonus. Qualified candidates must be self-motivated, organized, and independent workers, capable of excellent communication with IT staff, lawyers, and other advocates. Preferred candidates will have experience working in a legal setting and/or working with low income individuals. Qualified candidates will possess an associates’ or other degree in a relevant technology field or commensurate experience working in a relevant technology field.

Salary/Benefits: The salary ranges from $36,000 annually, depending on experience.
