POSITION: Legal Aid of Western Michigan (LAWM) has an opening in its Grand Rapids office for an experienced staff attorney.

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM: LAWM provides free civil legal services to low income persons and Seniors in a wide variety of poverty law areas. LAWM covers 17 counties in western Michigan from five offices with a full time staff of 50.

QUALIFICATIONS: This is a full-time experienced staff attorney position in the Grand Rapids office of LAWM. Requires 2-5 years of prior legal aid work or equivalent experience in family law, housing and consumer law, or public benefits. The attorney hired for this position will be working independently to represent clients and do community outreach and education in rural Ionia and Montcalm counties, and must have own reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed). Spanish fluency highly valued. Applicant must be admitted to the Michigan bar with requisite experience for at least 2 years, and demonstrated commitment to justice for low-income persons.

BENEFITS: This is a full time position for an initial term of at least one year, with a salary from $42,000 depending on experience. LAWM offers a generous health benefit and vacation/sick leave package.
