Staff Attorney - Foreclosure - Ann Arbor - Legal Services of South Central Michigan - Revised Posting
Job Type: Legal ServicesLegal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) has an opening for a program-wide foreclosure prevention attorney. This position will be housed at the Michigan Poverty Law Program (MPLP) office.
LSSCM provides free legal services to very low income and senior persons in 13 counties in south-central Michigan. LSSCM also provides statewide legal services through two programs Farmworker Legal Services, which provides services to migrant and seasonal agricultural workers; and the Michigan Poverty Law Program, which provides state support services to all the local legal aid and legal services programs in the state. LSSCM has a full time staff of about 60 people in eight offices.
The attorney will be the LSSCM foreclosure prevention specialist as part of the statewide Michigan Foreclosure Prevention Project. It is our goal that this new staff person will co-counsel every in litigation foreclosure case in the program. This position will be supervised by Lorray Brown, the MPLP managing attorney and statewide foreclosure prevention project manager.
Applicants should be licensed to practice law in Michigan or be eligible to take the bar examination at the next opportunity, and should demonstrate a commitment to the low income community. Applicants should also have 3 or more years experience in mortgage foreclosure litigation or other complex litigation. Salary is from $37,000, depending on experience.
