Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) has an opening for a Staff Attorney in the Jackson office.

MAP provides access to the justice system for those who need it the most through its local legal services offices, Legal Services of South Central Michigan and Farmworker Legal Services, as well several statewide advocacy programs: Michigan Poverty Law Program, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative, and the Michigan Legal Help Program. MAP has a staff of about 100 people in offices in Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Monroe.

This position is in the Jackson - Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) – office, serving Jackson and Hillsdale Counties as part of our Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project (CVLAP), a statewide program, focused on elder abuse. The CVLAP-Elder Staff Attorney will provide outreach and a wide range of legal representation and advocacy to victims of elder abuse, under the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).

Applicants should be licensed to practice law in Michigan or be eligible to waive in or to take the next bar examination. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to underserved populations.

MAP is a unionized program. Salary is from $44,000 depending on experience and includes excellent benefits.
