Pro Bono Coordinator Description:

LSEM is searching for a Pro Bono Coordinator to oversee our volunteer and pro bono efforts. The Coordinator will be primarily responsible for:

  • referring pro bono matters to participating volunteer attorneys
  • recruiting, training, and supervising law student interns and attorney volunteers, if licensed to practice law
  • facilitating monthly advice clinics 
  • promoting attorney recognition

The Coordinator will be secondarily responsible for:

  • developing and managing a wide range of volunteer projects and fellowship opportunities
  • developing and improving recruitment and training materials
  •  developing partnership opportunities with law firms, corporations, law schools, colleges, bar associations, and other organizations
  • Co-counseling occasional cases, if licensed to practice law
  • Nurturing and maintaining effective working relationships with volunteers attorneys and their staff

The Coordinator will work closely with the Directing Attorney, Executive Director and Staff Attorneys. Many of our current pro bono cases involve issues pertaining to domestic relations, housing litigation, probate, and consumer matters. The Pro Bono Coordinator is an important part of LSEM service delivery and Bench and Bar Association relations. They may also perform other duties as needed.

The candidate must demonstrate:

  • proficient organizational skills and the ability to track cases and outcomes

  • an ability to use good judgment and emotional intelligence
  • the capability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • ability to work with a wide range of clients and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner.
