POSITION:  Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) is seeking applicants for a Financial Assistant in the Central Administrative office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Financial Assistant will be responsible for supporting a number of Central Administrative areas with a heavy concentration in accounts payable, but may also involve benefits, payroll, grant reporting and general administration. Specific duties include processing payables, entering journal entries, assisting with month, quarter and year end reporting, supporting the annual audit, and other duties as needed to support the organization. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Applicants must be skilled in the use of Microsoft programs (namely Word and Excel) and be comfortable using technology in general. Applicants must possess excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.  Applicants must have excellent attention to detail, time management skills, and an ability to prioritize and work independently. Applicants should have accounting software experience, Peachtree a plus, but not required.  Applicants should have either a strong, working knowledge of accounting or a 2 year or greater degree in Accounting, Business Management or equivalent. 

BENEFITS:  This is a full time position with a good benefits package and excellent paid leave time.  Annual salary range is from $33,000 or higher, depending on experience. 

DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM:  The Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) is a nonprofit law firm that provides civil legal assistance to low income residents of Michigan with offices in Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Jackson, Lansing, Monroe, Kalamazoo, Detroit and Grand Rapids.  All payroll, bill paying, personnel support, grant reporting and cash receipts are done from Central Administration, located in Ypsilanti.  Learn more about Michigan Advocacy Program at http://www.miadvocacy.org.
