Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan (NLSM), Elder Law & Advocacy located at 12121 Hemingway, Redford, MI has an opening for a full-time staff attorney in its Elder Law and Advocacy Center (ELAC) and Free Legal Aid Clinic (FLAC) to oversee and facilitate policies, procedures and special projects at FLAC. The position will consist of a 35 hour work week; primary hours will be accumulated Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Under the supervision of ELAC’s supervising attorney, this candidate’s primary responsibility will be casehanding and the supervision of student attorneys and their cases. The candidate must be a team player, work well with others, and possess good managerial and organizational skills. When appropriate, must be able to work independently and provide extensive legal services to primarily older persons and caregivers. Responsibilities also include intake, counsel and advice, brief services, drafting documents, representation, and court appearances.

Candidates should be licensed to practice law in Michigan and must be in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan and demonstrate commitment to public interest. Neighborhood Legal Services Michigan, a non-profit organization, has provided legal services to low-income persons since 1966.

Salary range based upon experience. Three to five years of experience in Elder Law preferred.
