Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services has an opening for an Administrative Assistant/Desktop Support Specialist.

PROGRAM: Michigan Statewide Advocacy Services (MSAS) provides access to the justice system for those who need it most through five statewide advocacy programs: the Michigan Poverty Law Program; the Michigan Legal Help Program; the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center; the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative; and the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Program. MSAS is affiliated with the Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP), which also provides civil legal aid assistance through Legal Services of South Central Michigan and Farmworker Legal Services.  MAP has a staff of about 130 people in offices in Ypsilanti, Battle Creek, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Monroe.

POSITION: The Administrative Assistant/Desktop Support Specialist will work closely with MSAS and MAP IT departments and the two MSAS executive directors. IT responsibilities will include front-line desktop support to employees around the state; Administrative Assistant duties will include gathering and reviewing data for grant reports; human resources tasks; and other administrative duties related to operation of the five statewide MSAS programs. This position will be located in Ypsilanti.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; must be skilled in working with computer hardware, software, and applications; prior experience working in an office preferred. Applicants must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet all deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to take initiative in the development and completion of projects, and to work successfully on teams is required.

BENEFITS: This is a full-time position with a salary starting at $37,000 based on years of relevant experience and includes excellent health, disability, and fringe benefits, and leave time.
