Document Actions

Michigan Advocacy Program (MAP) has openings for two Staff Attorneys in the Jackson office.

MAP provides access to the justice system for those who need it the most through its local legal services offices, Legal Services of South Central Michigan and Farmworker Legal Services, as well several statewide advocacy programs: Michigan Poverty Law Program, the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center, the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative, and the Michigan Legal Help Program. MAP has a staff of about 85 people in offices in Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Detroit, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Monroe.

Both positions are in the Jackson - Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) – office. The Jackson office serves Jackson and Hillsdale Counties.

One position is with our Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project, a statewide program, focused on elder abuse. The CVLAP-Elder Staff Attorney will provide outreach and a wide range of legal representation and advocacy to victims of elder abuse, under the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA).

The second position is a Generalist Staff Attorney. The staff attorney will provide a range of individual advocacy and impact work as a generalist, including family, consumer, public benefits and housing law.

Applicants should be licensed to practice law in Michigan or be eligible to waive in or to take the next bar examination. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to under-served populations. For the CVLAP-Elder Staff Attorney position, experience with elder abuse is ideal.
