Dollar amounts used in budgeting Food Assistance Program (FAP) Food Stamp allotments have been changed effective October 1, 2003. PRT 250, 255 & 260.

Applicants not submitting the signature page are being terminated from Medicaid without receiving a written notice of termination.

PEM 233B - FAP/Food penalties for quitting a job without good cause will only be applied if the job involved at least 30 hours per week of work. FAP/Food Stamp penalties for reducing hours of employment without good cause will only be applied if the hours before the reduction were more than 30 and the hours after the reduction are less than 30.

FAP/Food Stamp recipients who do not meet the requirements for the Non-Cash Recipient (NCR) program, including those in households without a child, may receive up to $50 per month for transportation reimbursement, tools, or clothing in connection with employment or training/education. The Family Independence Agency (FIA) may issue employment support service payments for transportation, clothing, tools, or other expenses for Non Cash Recipients (NCRs) who are not actively participating in a Michigan Works Agency (MWA)-approved activity. FIA also may provide ESS for FIP recipients and NCRs who are participating in MWA-approved activities, if the local MWA and FIA office agree that FIA should make the support service payment, under a local MWA-FIA agreement.

PEM 536 - New FIA policy has been issued in an effort to comply with a federal court order regarding the calculation of Group 2 Caretaker Relative Medicaid eligibility for non-parent caretaker relatives (kinship caregivers), such as grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. <br>The new policy is poorly written and does not properly explain how to determine Medicaid eligibility for adults who are parenting their own minor children as well as the minor children of a close relative.

PEM Item 554 - FAP/Food Stamp Households that share housing costs with another Food Stamp household or with persons who are disqualified from the household will no longer have to pro-rate the shelter expense when their FAP/Food Stamp allotment is calculated.
