Background

Medicaid

What's Happening?

Beginning October 1, 2005, dental services are again covered for adult Medicaid recipients in Michigan. All services require a $3.00 co-payment and many services require prior approval. Remember that for any Medicaid co-payments, recipients should not be refused services because of their inability to pay co-payments. The state has an unlawful policy that allows providers to refuse service based on unpaid co-payments from prior services. Recipients who experience difficulty accessing services because they are unable to pay co-payments (either for current or past services) should seek legal advice. The Center for Civil Justice is available to provide information if you have been denied service because of a Medicaid co-payment. The toll-free number for the Center is (800)724-7441.Notices were sent to recipients explaining the change in coverage.
